Island News & Updates
Our first open registration was Bumpy, but overall a success!
|
60 players registered for an account, many returning faces and some new ones! We look forward to everyone's participation and we hope you look forward to our next event, the annual Hallows Extravaganza. Everyone who joined during our limited time open registration or earlier has been given their Sand Dollar signup bonus. We will be prioritizing porting over items and MYO slots first, then chararacters. Characters take time to upload as we have to search through nearly 10 years of files and images to locate the original high-resolution, background free files. There may be some characters which we do not have the source image for, but will do out best to clean up and upload the highest resolution image we can. Thank you for your support and welcome to Isomara Island! |

🍖 Edible Items Version 1.0
Most edible items can now be eaten from a player's inventory! Items with the small pink tag labeled "Consumable" can be eaten by selecting the item in your inventory and choosing which of your Isomara to feed it to. Once fed the Isomara's hunger meter will rise or fall depending on the item.
-
- Edible items with other multiple effects such as curing ailments, raising stats, and granting traits will still need to be fed using the Item Consumption Forums. We need more time to implement those features, but now most items can be fed to Isomara instantly!
- If you see any issues when using consumable items please submit a bug report with a description of what items and isomara were involved.

🐈 Companion Care Drops
- Added Memora care drops
- Memora must be companioned to an Isomara to have care drops. You can learn how to tame and companion Memora here.
Changes
🪽Stat Capacity
- All stats have received a maximum capacity limit. Never before has there been a hard set-in-stone limit to the amount of fight, flight, and hunger stat points an Isomara can have, but as we implement more features to the website there are times when we need to limit data and work within the bounds of some backend limitations. With the addition of Edible Items V1, we need to implement a cap on hunger and the other two stats. There will be ways to increase this cap in the future.
- Fight and Flight are capped at 500 each
- Hunger has been capped at 200
- For any Isomara over the 200 hunger cap, they will automatically have their hunger cap increased rounded up to the nearest hundred (Ex. Hunger of 223, the cap will be 300)
- The Stuffed hunger status will remain for Isomara over 100 no matter what their hunger cap
- Note: Once an Isomara reaches the hunger cap they can still eat items, but their hunger will not go above that count
🫐 Item Details & Effects
All items in the edible category have had their descriptions fleshed out with additional information such as flavor text, location source, and uses.
- Flowers have been changed from a Tier 1 item to a Tier 0 item
- Consuming flowers now causes -1 hunger for each flower eaten (used to be +1 hunger for x3 flowers)
- Coconut Water now cures Dehydration
- Added sale price to all edible items which means all edible items can now be sold from the player's inventories
- Using honey now only has a 35% chance of curing bee stings
- Added critter bite cure to honey (35% chance)
- Using Aloe vera now only has a 35% chance to cure sunburns
- Added critter bites cure to Aloe Vera (35% chance)
- Increased hunger for eating a Pumpkin from 3 to 5
- Added new item -
- Bandage - made of aloe vera or honey and fabric grants a 100% chance to cure bee stings, critter bites, and sunburns
- Removed item
- Height Changer - No longer needed as players can alter their character's height whenever they please

- Complete the two event prompts to earn items, a new rainbow site theme, and even a new cloud hopper variant.
- Event ends on June 30th
New Game - Sink or Soar![]()
- Sink or Soar has been released with much praise from the community. For those visiting the Tide Pools, you'll likely spot Aycorn waiting to play a simple number-guessing game of Sink or Soar.
Added Guides & Information Pages
- Island Inhabitants - Find all information and page resources for species and animals living on the island. This page has been added to the Inhabitants tab on the navigation bar. This page is still a work in progress and contains placeholder images.
- Isomara Communication - Goes over how Isomara communicate through verbal, and nonverbal means, and alongside the new Sink or Soar game implements the number written notation of the Isomara species.
- Hunger Mechanic - Learn all about that hunger meter that is present on the Isomara Masterlist pages, how to increase it, and what hunger affects. This page has been added to the Resources tab on the navigation bar.
- Inflictions & Ailments - Isomara can contract illness and be harmed in some activities. This informative page tells you all about the ailments an Isomara can contract along with the effects and cures to them. This page has been added to the resources tab on the navigation bar.
- Courtship - Mating traditions for Isomara are not too different from our own. Courtship describes what preparations two Isomara must take which will lead to producing eggs.
- The Courtship Traditions Tab in the Prompt Pavilion has also been updated with the new prompts.

Site Themes
- A dark mode theme has been implemented on the site. To enable a site theme go to your settings and select which theme you would like. Choosing no theme will revert the appearance of the site to the default blue/white theme.
- A rainbow pride theme is also available to those who complete the new Basking in Rainbows event.
Changes
- Reduced max amount of times a single isomara can court from twice a month to once a month
- Unified the amount of date prompts an isomara needs to complete to court to two dates
- Previously only one date was needed if courting your own isomara, now is two. And if courting with an isomara not owned by you each person can do one date each (which has remained the same).
- We have decided to stabilize the number of dates to two to ensure the isomara get to know each other and build their relationship.
Miscellaneous
- Renamed any uses of "bust" to "bust/halfbody" as when we referred to art busts it was for 25-64% of the character being visible, and as we know a bust typically refers to just a portion of the upper body.
Fixes
- Fixed formatting of various pages with contents extending off the page on smaller window sizes.
- Fixed being unable to adopt a character from The Daycare if the character had multiple ways to purchase
- Hyperlink over an entire paragraph in the FAQ page
- Added some missing or incorrect links in the Beginner's Guide
- Prompt rewards correctly state "stat points" instead of "character points"

Additional Character Profile Settings

- Separation of content boxes - Based on some opinions and preferences on the Isomara Island Discord, we've updated the character pages so that the content boxes containing companions/critters and equipment/accessories can now be condensed as they were or separated.

- Added missing 6'4" height option for character profiles
- Inventory, equipment, critter, and accessory boxes on profiles now correctly display 8 of each item content

DeviantArt Group Updates
Updates
Upcoming Closures
- Sunday - November 26th - The Daycare
- The Daycare will be closing and no longer have new Isolings and companions available for adoption. The Daycare was often used to sell new isolings, eggs, and companions at low prices. The onsite Daycare is now primarily a rehoming service for those who want to donate their character back to the game for other users to adopt with in-game currency.
- Sunday - December 3rd - Achievement Turn-In
- After this date, we will no longer be accepting turn-in comments and adding achievements to Isomara profiles on the IsomaraIndex account. We used to display five of the achievement images on each import page and then list the rest. We have experienced issues with the thumbnails disappearing and cannot always confirm which achievements an Isomara had if they earned it far in the past. Users can submit a claim on-site with a link to proof on DeviantArt if their character has earned an achievement they do not have on their masterlist page.

Website Updates
Updates
Loot Table Reward Fairness
- Many games and activity rewards are rolled from loot tables, and we know unlucky streaks can be annoying, so we have enabled guaranteed loot drops for some loot tables to avoid cases of incredible unlucky reward streaks.
- This feature works where rewards with low drop rates on loot tables will certainly drop after a set number of rolls to avoid unlucky streaks. For example, an item with an expected 10% (1 in 10) roll drop chance will guaranteed to drop on the 20th roll (this is an example and does not represent any specific loot table drop chance in the game).
- At this time, the only loot table rolls that have this in place are the wishing well, legendary items via exploration, and some special trait-related loot tables such as the Radiant trait, where there is a slight chance to earn it by consuming ectoplasm and the Dyed Maw (Achromatic) trait that can be acquired by consuming ink.
Character Lineage & Relations
- Character family trees have been expanded upon and can now list siblings, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. You can find two new links on the sidebar labeled Lineage and Relations. The new lineage page displays all known ancestors and descendants of your character, while the new relatives page will display any siblings, niblings, auncles, and cousins.
- Renamed the lineage tab to Relations on character profiles
- Added images to the lineage tree on character profiles (previously only displayed names)
- Added list of children to relations tab of character profiles (previously non-functional)
- View the new Relations tab, Lineage page, and Relatives page in action: I-0103: Sugar & I-0001: Slayer
Changes
- Added a button to view all recent gallery submissions on the top-right-hand side of the gallery as well as in the sidebar
- We have added a recent gallery section on each character and user profile near the bottom to promote and show off user submissions.
- The gallery section on a user's profile will only display that user's recent submissions.
- The gallery section on a character's profile will only display submissions that include the character.
- These sections will not be visible until the user/character has at least one thing to show in the gallery.
Equipment / Accessory Items Classifications
- All equipment and accessories were incorrectly categorized as everyday items. Due to this, users could not attach them to characters, and thus, their uses and abilities would not take effect. We have corrected this issue, and if you owned any equipment or accessories in your inventory, they have been removed and replaced with their properly categorized counterpart.
- Charm items have been appropriately classified as Accessories. Charm items have been removed from all user inventories and replaced with Charm accessories. You can now correctly equip these charms to your characters.
Fixes
- Equipment and Accessories were listed twice in some shops. Some equipment and accessories were labeled as an item in the game with equipment/accessories as a category name. All of these items have been adequately converted. If you owned any of these items, you should have received a notification of the items being removed from your inventory and a notification of staff granting you the new version. You can now also equip your characters with these equipment and accessories!
- Removed duplicate items being listed in Pacings' Shop
- The equipment box on user profiles now only shows equipment (used to include accessories)
- The accessory box on user profiles now shows owned accessories
- View Achievement Logs on Character Profiles no longer leads to a 404
- Fixed missing badge images on user profiles. Also fixed the issue where badges would scale incorrectly
- Minor formatting adjustments on profile pages
- Removed duplicate backend settings
- Updated some incorrect text strings
- Removed some unintended links in the nav bar
- Removed the lingering mochi/daifuku scavenger hunt targets, as this ended early this month
- Resolved issue where staff were unable to remove currency from users
- Increased image size of critters, equipment, and accessory images on character profiles
- Fixed the name of the critter not correctly displaying underneath the critter image
- Fixed character design updates not being functional
- Fixed issue where users could not login via alternate logins
- Fixed incorrect URLs being linked in some site notifications
- Fought back the ever-encroaching achievement basket on character profiles
Known Bugs
These are issues that have been reported by players or noted by staff and have not been resolved yet but are on our radar.
- Isomara of the Month will sometimes display a companion species
- Low priority bug: staff will manually roll an Isomara if the site pulls a non-Isomara species for the IOM for the time being
- Some item's information displays shops that they cannot be purchased at [Fixed in 6.4.9]

Website Updates
Updates
- The Companion Care Drops feature has been revived and fully implemented. Players who own companion species such as Gooms and Bleppers and are companioned to an Isomara can now start receiving care drop bundles every first of the month. This update came a bit late, but the first bundle for February is available to collect!
- To claim a companion's care drops, go to the companions master list page, and a new tab will be available next to the profile. If they have a care drop bundle for you, there will be a button to claim. You can also go to the sidebar and select care drops.
- To companion a character to an Isomara, submit a claim that contains the companion(s) and the Isomara they will be companioned to. Due to the nature of companioning, this must be completed by staff and cannot be done manually by members. Please submit only one claim per Isomara.
- Due to the site's inner workings and limitations, we have had to change the perks of the companion-related achievements. You can find that information below in the Changes section of this journal.

As the Isomara society grows and evolves, more written symbols will be founded and introduced to help communicate between characters and society. These sigils represent a word or concept and show that your Isomara has gained the knowledge to use and read the sigil. These sigil awards can be kept on player accounts and assigned to characters through the awards inventory page.
- The first sigil, flame, can be earned through the Fire Safety Training prompt

Companion Care Drops
- As we implement and bring over features from the DeviantArt version of the ARPG, some additional things must change to fit the new medium and format of the official website. Beginning in Update 5.5, players could include a piece of art or a short story to their care drop comment and would earn x1 Sand Dollar along with their rolled drops. Since drops are now automated monthly, there is no way to include artwork or stories to receive a bonus sand dollar reward. Instead, we have implemented a chance for a sand dollar to drop in every companion bundle.
Achievement Ways to Obtain
- Ally of Goo achievement now has a small chance to be obtained by opening a Goom Care Bundle
- Careful Coexistence achievement now has a slight chance to be obtained by opening a Memora Care Bundle
- Dumb Love achievement now has a slight chance to be obtained by opening a Blepper Care Bundle
- These three achievements can be kept on player accounts and assigned to characters through the awards inventory page.

Fixes
- Resolved issued where comments could not be made or edited (Note: comments still cannot be removed)
- Critters attached to characters appropriately display what variant they are
- Fixed crafting recipes not displaying the name of the intended crafted item
- Deustrums are now correctly placed in the Isomara profile box instead of the companion's box
- Equipment and accessory items now will list shops they can be purchased at
- Fixed a bug where some items said they could be purchased at some shops when they could not
Known Bugs
These are issues that have been reported by players or noted by staff and have not been resolved yet but are on our radar.
- Isomara of the Month will sometimes display a companion species
- Low priority bug: staff will manually roll an Isomara if the site pulls a non-Isomara species for the IOM for the time being
- Sigils are placed in the character achievement basket when earned. The plan is to separate sigils into their own tab on character master list pages.
DeviantArt Group Updates
Updates
Activity Game Closures
As mentioned in a previous update, some features of the DeviantArt version of the ARPG have now officially closed.
- Sunday - December 3rd - Achievement Turn-In
- We will no longer accept turn-in comments and add achievements to Isomara profiles on the IsomaraIndex account. We used to display five achievement images on each import page and then list the rest. We have experienced issues with the thumbnails disappearing and cannot always confirm which achievements an Isomara had if they earned it far in the past. Users can submit a claim on-site with a link to proof on DeviantArt if their character has earned an achievement they do not have on their master list page.
- Companion Care Drops
- Due to low popularity, Companion Care Drops ceased in 2022; we have now automated the process on the site and have no intentions of updating or bringing back the DeviantArt version, as it would require time spent on manual rolling, banking, and updating of the journal and comment threads.
