Detour Fishing!

By the following days that have passed, Sherbyte had decided to stray away from the mountains after that last incident. Vaguely remembering it happening all too fast, it still was ingrained deep into her skull. Thinking about it, she decided to stick around in the forest instead; the air was also not as thin in comparison to being up at higher altitudes. Being surrounded by greenery and the untamed brush, it helped eased some of the anxiety that danced around in her mind; perking up her ears some, the orange Iso picks up the sound of running water from a distance 'Oh? Sounds like there's a river near by!'. The expression on her face had lighten to this little discovery in her little forest detour, this could also give her a good chance in river fishing.

Carefully making her way through the brush, Sherbyte eventually finds what she was looking for; much to the blessing of being born with big rabbit-like ears! Her ears wiggled out of excitement and anticipation upon the sight, the water looked fresh; clear, and had no signs of mud intermixing with it upon from the rain showers going on. Gazing into the stream a bit longer, the orange Iso had a glimpse of a shadow moving about in the water "Freshwater fish!" she exclaimed out of excitement. It wasn't long after that her enthusiasm had died down as she herd the sound of rustling from the foliage across from her, alerting the Isomara enough for her to back off into a leafy covering.

Upon watching movement of the bushes, she spots the cause of the momentarily disruption; which caused her to widen her dark purple eyes, it was a memora! Not just any wild one at that, but the same one that she had a rocky encounter with in the mountains 'What are you doing all the way down here, baby-blue eyes..?' Sherbyte thought to herself, watching the feline's every movement. It turns out, their acquainted 'neighbor' seemed to be here for a drink; or so it seemed. The ghostly coral pink and terracotta colored Memora lowered itself, as if it was stalking and honing in on something while staring into the stream; wriggling its butt before striking a paw into the water. Not long after, out flies a decently sized river fish; this made the orange Iso think deeply as she looked at her large-webbed paws. 'Hmm...Maybe I can make use of that Memora's technique, that may prove useful with the lack of a fishing rod...'

Sherbyte's ears then twitched at the sound of a splash; while not paying attention, it seemed that the Memora in question fell into the water upon trying to catch its snack. Thankfully, the stream here didn't seem as rough in comparison to some rivers she's heard stories of; and witnessed the ghostly coral pink and terracotta feline climb out of the river. Shaking its fur from being weighed down of the excess amount of water, it started cleaning itself of the loose droplets. Since that attempted ended in a failure, the orange Iso wanted to give it a shot next; slowly revealing herself from the other side of the stream, this caused the Memora to stop on what it was doing. Its back and neck was slightly arched, but had slowly readjusted its defensive body language just a small bit; it seems like it recognizes this bumbling Iso.

Sherbyte was a bit alarmed at first upon being spotted, but to her relief, the Memora seemed like it was watching what kind of event was about to unfold. She heard of Memora being opportunistic group hunters, but from the last time she's seen this one; it looked to be a loner fending itself, and possibly attempting itself to make its own hoard. Setting her eyes back onto the stream, she spots a shadow that swam close within her reach; readying one of her big, webbed, clawed paws, she takes a swat at the aquatic creature-
It flew out of the water alright; but apparently, the orange Iso smacked the poor thing too hard that it flew towards a turning point of the river, plopping back into the stream. Oops...That was perhaps too much power to that smack.

The orange Isomara's expression had that 'whoops' smeared across her face and snout, much so that it seemed that her audience seemed unimpressed. But there was a slither of hope, for one of the Memora's ears flicked and continued watching Sherbyte's attempts in batting fish out of the water. In Sherbyte's second attempt, the smack was a bit too weak; causing the fish to wriggle past her claws, the texture to it also felt slimy; gross! Third time being the charm, she manages to smack the slippery food the right amount of force out of the water; all seemed to go according to plan until she had to clap sandwich the creature with both of her paws, causing her to tip out of balance and fall into the stream.

The Memora's ears swiveled forward upon seeing that attempt ending up in the same exact failure that it had, cautiously peered its head slightly above the river. Bubbles started surfacing from the running water, and before it knew; recoiled at the sight of a sudden jump scare of the resurfacing orange Iso, and her catch. "I...Got it!" Sherbyte exclaimed proudly, a big toothy smile to her face; the fish wriggling frantically as it tried to escape from her grasp. The ghostly coral pink and terracotta Memora arched body then slowly unskrilled itself upon seeing the fish; pupils being ever so slightly dilated. That all ended however, with the fish slipping out of Sherbyte's grasp-
However, it seemed to have wriggled the wrong way and found itself flopping around on the forest floor, as the orange Iso had to quickly climb herself out of the river, the baby-blue eyed Memora strikes one of its stingers into the flailing fish; paralyzing it. Sherbyte was pumped about catching her first river fish, but at the same time was a bit disappointed that she didn't get to hunt one for herself. It seemed to work out, though; as it seems like she's made a feline friend during their little river activity, trading a skill with some food and companionship did seem like a fair trade between the two!
