This slippery deustrum is believed to dwell solely in the sea.  While isomara are not equipped for this way of life, Compass is rarely seen on land.  Choosing a life of mostly solitude, Compass is often seen adrift out along the ocean.  His strong wings can easily take him into flight and fight against most currents, so he does not worry about being swept out to sea.  He keeps his wings aloft over him to shield from harsh sun on his head and body, whilst keeping his upper jaw and eyes above the water line whilst he floats, similarly to gators.  No one knows where his strange attachment to the water came from.
