Start of a Rocky Relationship
Up in the mountainous terrain, where feral Memics wander, and flighty bats tuck themselves into cozy crevasses; an orange isomara, clambers her way up; tooth and claw. Sherbyte wasn't completely in sync with herself, be it mind or body; she was quite exhausted from from having to climb her way up just to get a better view of where to venture next. Plopping onto her rear once she lifted herself onto a stable surface, the Iso herself then gives her eyes a moment to enjoy the sight: trees covering up miles and miles of land, and a very small glimpse of the sandy shoreline where a fragment of a beach can be seen. "Hmm...No, that isn't a suntanning spot I'm familiar with...Maybe I can try and mark it on here..." Reaching out from her thick mane, she pulls out a rolled up paper parchment in which happened to be a crudely drawn map.
The orange isomara was rather an armature explorer, only having to cover small pieces of the island where she had ventured before. Unrolling the parchment and laying it down flat onto the ground, Sherbyte started humming to herself, scratching at the back of her ear; she then looks around to see if there was any small piece of charcoal on ground that she can use to draw with. She then spots one that was a bit out of reach...Making a quick decision, she decided to quickly get up and waddle her way in snatching the small piece of charred mineral-
That was, until she realized that the map in question was missing.
The striped orange Iso felt her heart sank, and started looking around at every little nook and cranny nearby; only to finally slowly peer downwards from the mountain. "Ah bloody ancients; what a leaping fool am I?!" Planting her face into her paws with the charcoal in her grasp, one of her perked ears picked up some kind of noise of small pebbles clattering against another rocky surface...This quickly adverted her attention to high alert for an impending danger that may have found itself to her. Sherbyte found her deep purple eyes locked against a ghostly coral pink, and a rich terracotta brown Memora; accented with some small baby blue spots, and baby blue eyes...its boa completely transparent to where one can see its venom is stored, and had a set of three stingers.
Wait, it also had a piece of parchment in its mouth; Sherbyte with her mouth gaped open only but puffed up her cheeks before foolishly shouting. "Little thief!" The Memora in question however, wasn't much bothered by the orange Iso's noisy demeanor and was more bothered by her locking eyes against it; taking that as a challenge. The pupils of the feline creature constricted, arching its back and stingers before letting out a small hiss and started running off further up the mountain range. "H-hey! Don't you run from me, that's mine!" The orange Iso had no choice but to muster up the strength to climb; and for her map of exploration no less! One paw and craggy rock at a time, the Isomara in question started out clumsy at first...and in some cases, got so close to the cunning Memora before nearly sliding back down from square one again.
The Memora however, could have chosen to keep climbing up further out of reach; but instead, had just watched Sherbyte. It both frustrated and confounded the orange Isomara as that bit of pride in her felt like she was being taunted. That feeling had bubbled up to the point where she felt that ounce of spite as her motivator, and started taking leaps instead of clambering about like a limbless lizard. This eventually prompted the pale coral pink and terracotta Memora to start climbing up a little further again in a rush; this however, had the feline had a miscalculation. One of the rocks it stepped on happened to be unstable, causing the creature to slip; Sherbyte out of panic reached out and grabbed the map that was in the Memora's mouth.
Both Iso and feline were dangling from the craggy mountain side; Sherbyte's claws were digging into the surface for dear life, and the Memora had its jaws clenching tightly onto the cloth-like textured parchment. The Iso had to make a critical decision, be it to let the map and Memora go to save her own, or to try and hold on? The first idea sounded enticing...But it also didn't feel right; Memora only collect and hoard items for their pride out of nature, and it wouldn't be entirely fair to just save herself on the behest of a moment of anger...It wasn't flailing its stingers about either. Sharply taking a deep breath, Sherbyte had a plan "Aight, I know you and I have our differences; but...I want you to trust me on this-"
Her deep purple eyes slowly glanced back at the Memora hanging on, giving it a slow blink of acknowledgment. The baby blue eyes of the Memora seemed to tense up a little less, but then eventually realized that the Iso was slowly swaying her arm and hand the grasped upon the map that it was holding onto back and forth. With one final swing, Sherbyte manages to swing the Memora up to a slightly higher level above her; but that wasn't without her having to let go of her map. With one less life out of danger, this made the orange Iso feel at ease; and had slowly pulled herself up.
Looking back at the steep mountainous terrain below, Sherbyte was on all four paws; trembling from having to experience a near disaster. Adverting her attention back at the strange wild Memora, she can see it having its back arched up a bit; though, it wasn't exactly hissing, Sherbyte can feel remorse flooding back in. "I'm...sorry, th-that I shouted at you...and nearly..." The next set of words were very troubling for her to say, as if it were something very forbidden among Isomara kind. A soft sound of padding footsteps from the baby-blue eyed Memora becomes more apparent for the feline to approach her; the map in its mouth, it eventually drops it next to the orange Iso before licking its own nose...taking the charcoal rock in exchange, and decided to run off.
'...Did I just reached a mutual understanding with a Memora..?' A bit puzzled within her thoughts, Sherbyte then blinks twice before having to pick up the stretched out parchment of a map. "...I better get going then, before I get harassed by something less forgiving..."
[Mini-Prompt VI]
Originally was to be exploring, but it turns out the universe had other plans in terms of the wild Memora Rehoming Service...This is the start of how the companionship between Sherbyte and Toffee started! Being bold, and quick thinking; 'Toffee' was rather impressed with not only those qualities of her personality, but the fact that would save a life over petty spats over materialistic things.
