[E-Beach] Crabby encounters
After trying and unsuccessfully getting Zap to play in the waves, Horacio decided that it was enough training and that they would just play on the sand. He ran along the beach, large claws digging into the sand as he bounded forward. Zap happily chased after him, the young bahrū not able to keep up on the soft sand. Noticing this, Horacio slowed to a trot to allow Zap to catch up before taking off again. He ran down the beach and whirled around to drop into a playful crouch. “Can’t catch me, Zapper!”
The bahrū still tried anyway and raced up to him. Horacio dashed off again with a laugh. They played for some time before Zap got distracted by a crab on the beach. He became entranced by the strange shelled creature that walked sideways, like he’d never seen one before. Horacio thought that he probably hadn’t. He stood back as Zap investigated for himself, cautiously sniffing at the crustacean. Growing a little bolder, he batted at the crab’s shell with a paw. The crab didn’t seem to like that. Not understanding, Zap experimentally batted at it again.
Seeing where this was going, Horacio stepped forward worriedly. “Zap, come here.”
The bahrū ignored him in favour of tapping his paw on the crab. This time the crab’s claw snapped shut on Zap’s paw. The pup yelped and waved his paw about in pain and fright.
“Zap!” Horacio tried out.
The bahrū danced about for a moment before stopping and violently shaking his fur. The static charge built up until… Zap! Lightning scored the sand around him, including his attacker. The crab scurried off a little toastier than when it awoke that morning.
Horacio scooped Zap into his arms, checking the pup’s paw. It had a small cut, but it would be alright. He’d probably still get it checked out just to be sure.
He sighed. “Ya gotta be careful ‘bout making things angry, Zap. Not everything wants to play with ya.”
Zap whined.
“I know.” He gently placed him back on the ground. He noticed that the sand looked a bit funny. Not melted glass like what super heated sand turned into, because Zap’s electricity wasn’t strong enough for that. It was more oddly charred. Too bad really, lightning glass would have been fun.
Horacio shook his head and turned his attention back to Zap who was licking at his paw. “C’mon, Zap. We’ll have ya leg seen to.”
He held out an arm to see if Zap would allow himself to be carried. The bahrū limped over and allowed Horacio to wrap his arm around him, holding the pup to his chest. "I've got you."
