[#8] Piece of Sky
It was a clear and breezy night; the moon gleaming in guiding brilliance, stars sprinkled across the dark veil, and not a cloud in sight. One orange isomara waddled about at the beach's shoreline for a peaceful midnight patrol, it was nice, feeling the cool ocean breeze against her warm orange fur and puffy white mane. The Iso's perked ears however, were always kept flat, considering how much sensitive her hearing was in comparison to her smell and sight, her feel for texture when it came to plopping her clawed webbed feet against the wet sand wasn't entirely unpleasant; if anything, it felt similar to messing around with grainy pudding. Humming to herself out of contemplation, she wondered what sorts of creatures could be lurking in the night in cause of a needed night watch.
'At worst, I could stumble across some kind of nocturnal Memic; or a trouble making Iso...A goom wouldn't bother itself to travel this far out from their habitat unless the weather shows otherwise...' With that thought dancing about in her mind, Sherbyte glances her deep purple eyes towards the celestial sky; oh to be an Iso blessed with flyer wings and how much nicer the wind would feel in higher altitudes. Shaking her head, she couldn't be beggar and a chooser...If anything, she was at least skilled in swimming athletics; much so, just by that thought had given her an idea. 'Of course, why waddle it when I can just dart it with the high tides?'
With the thump of her tail, the aquatic affiliated Iso dives into the ocean's tides; following along with the push and pull motion of the waves, Sherbyte performs a dolphin leap in order for her to pass through some of the tough tidal currents. This process while tedious, is proven to be an albeit perfect way in getting pass the reef barrier; but the orange Iso wasn't exactly planning on going pass the reef, but more so, getting a better vantage point as a swimmer. Peering her head out from the salty shores, her gaze went from the shorelines, then back towards the sky; this felt a lot less taxing for her legs to tread through water than in sand...The striped orange Iso would often swim in small turbulent bursts, launching herself in the air, and diving back in shortly after; so far, nothing seemed out of the ordinary.
The night watch seemed to be pretty peaceful, bright stars dappled across the sky, and some would seemingly just...fly across the pitch black abyss. Sherbyte's expression then slowly contorted the moment she spotted a bright white dot that seemed to get dangerously closer into the ocean. 'Hold on...is that even a wishing star..?' Both the sight and thought puzzled the orange Iso, but before she could think of any other possibilities, the shooting 'star' from the sky plunges into the salty body of water; causing her to duck her head back into the ocean where the rest of herself hid.
Even in the body of water, Sherbyte can feel the plunging object's shock waves; while this does frighten her, something in her couldn't help but to...worry, for some reason. Rather than swimming away from the crash sight of the said object, she decides to swim towards it. It was a bit of a mile before the striped orange Iso could get a better look at what the unidentified object is...It looked small; white and deep blue in color, and it had subtle pattering as if it were a piece of the sky that fell. This left Sherbyte in a shock once she identified what it was '...A Cloud Hopper?!' a spew of bubbles escaped from her before catching herself; she had to quickly help it out from the ocean, as it isn't a place for a creature of flight to be in.
Carefully scooping the Cloud Hopper up, she starts swimming her way back towards the shore; albeit, it was a bit troublesome when it came to carrying back a fragile critter and moving through the ocean at the same time. It was until her final push, she leapt herself out of the water before plummeting her belly and elbows against the sand; but thankfully, the creature was no worse for wear. Readjusting herself back onto her feet, Sherbyte examines the Cloud Hopper's condition; one of its wings looked broken or 'torn' as if a cloud had lost a piece of itself from the strong winds. 'Poor little guy...there must have been a strong wind turbulence at the height that he was flying in...'
The orange Iso then looked around in checking her surroundings; apparently there wasn't anything shady going on as far as her night watch was going so far, and the little critter was knocked unconscious...Steadily breathing, but knocked out. '...Perhaps I should call it a night, and maybe see if I can find someone that specializes on Hoppers to see what can be done for one with a broken wing...' Tucking the Cloud Hopper into her white mane in order to keep it warm, Sherbyte then makes a turn around from the trail she had took; but this time, had to waddle it out with a new little friend to look after.
